Sunday’s Sculpture Walk

Thank you all, who came along Sunday morning for our Sculpture Walk. You were such a great crowd, making it such a lovely morning.

We were blessed with beautiful weather, on a 3.5km walk in which we got to see and discuss eight sculptural works.

Below are some images of the morning.

Have a great week everyone and I hope to see you soon.

The wetland reservoir in which the artwork resides is a catchment for water run-off with the wetland area filling and emptying as the seasons and weather patterns change. For the artist, this process brought to mind the Australian wildflowers that respond so quickly and fleetingly to soaking rain. The idea that the artwork could bloom seemed the best way to illustrate the presence of ponding water.

During soaking rainfalls, the sculpture opens, signifying the presence of water. As the water drains away the sculpture closes again remaining dormant until the next soaking rain.

Bloom has a surface skin of pierced reflective panels that are angled to catch the light and scintillate in the daylight and glows at night with an internal colour changing light.
